What is affiliate marketing?
Simply put, affiliate marketing is a form of advertising whereby the advertiser offers an incentive to website owners for promoting their products and services. Anyone who runs a blog or website with articles on it can be considered a publisher. As a publisher, you display banner ads or links on your website from advertisers and get compensated when a sale is made or an action is performed. The action can be a click on the advertisement or the completion of an online form on the advertisers website.
Are there affiliate ads on StGermaine.ca? Absolutely!
Most online companies offer affiliate programs nowadays. It is very easy to sign up with them and I feel that if I’m going to recommend a product or service that has an affiliate offer in place, I might as well take advantage of it. It’s also important for me to keep up to date with affiliate marketing so that when I use these programs as an advertiser for my other businesses, I get the most out of them.
My guarantee to my readers
While I do run affiliate offers on this site, I will never promote a product or service that I don’t believe in. I recommend products and services that I have tried, used or still use and that I feel are the best in the market.
Getting started in affiliate marketing
As a starting point, make sure you look for programs that are relevant to your site. If I started promoting Barbie dolls on StGermaine.ca, I probably wouldn’t make a lot of money. Research companies that complement the theme of your blog.
Here is a list of CPA networks that I work with (CPA means cost per action – you get paid when someone buys something or completes an action on the advertiser’s site):
Neverblue, PeerFly, MaxBounty, LinkShare, Pepperjam, Market Leverage, ShareASale, Affiliate, LinkConnector, COPEAC, Revenue Ads, AzoogleAds.
Here are a list of CPC networks that I belong to (CPC means cost per click – you get paid when someone clicks an ad):
Another great way to find programs that fit your niche is to visit websites of companies you like. Most will have a link somewhere that says “affiliates” or something to that effect. If you can’t find a link anywhere, you can always e-mail the company and ask if they offer an affiliate marketing program.
Affiliate marketing can be a part time gig to make a few extra bucks or a full time business with limitless income potential. If you’re interested in blogging or you already have a site, I highly recommend giving it a try!
